Bradford White Defender Safety System® Energy Saver water heater has a special Defender Safety System that gathers air for combustion into the Defender hot water heater through a small opening in the jacket, this air then enters the burner and is combusted at an optimum ratio producing a lot of heat with very low NOx emissions.

The main part of these water heaters is the flame arrestors design – patented ScreenLok® Technology; the purpose of the flame arrestor is to increase the velocity of the incoming air that enters the system.

The whole water heater is corrosion proof – there is an anode rod made up of magnesium that prevents the tank and heat exchanger from being corroded; the exit valve is made up of brass and hence it is protected from corrosion as well.
